Pennsylvania’s divorce professionals, verified.

Real attorneys, mediators, CDFAs and therapists — credentials checked against Pennsylvania’s own official directories, not paid placement.

Every professional below is currently at the Listed tier: credentials independently verified from an official Pennsylvania source, automatically included whether they’ve opted into The Cusp or not — the same way a bar association directory works. Nobody here has paid for placement, and none of them have published pricing or been reviewed yet.

This page is weaker than the rest of the directory, and you should know that before you use it

Most state directories on this site were built from a state licensing board, court roster or bar record. This one largely was not. Nine of the listings below came from the professional’s own website — which tells you what they say about themselves, and nothing more. They are marked Self-reported.

That does not mean anyone here is unlicensed. It means we have not confirmed it, and we are not willing to let the word “verified” carry weight it has not earned. We are re-checking these against the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board and the state’s license verification service, and this notice comes down when that is done. Until then: ask anyone you contact for their attorney ID or license number and check it yourself. It takes about two minutes and it is free.

What “verified” means on this page

Not every check is the same check, and most directories hide that. Every listing below says which kind it was, and the date we did it — because a license check is a photograph, not a guarantee. Somebody confirmed in August can be suspended in September.

  • State registerChecked against the state’s own licensing, court or bar record.
  • Issuing bodyChecked against the organization that grants this credential — authoritative for the credential, but it is their own list.
  • Membership listingA membership directory. Joining is voluntary, and this is not a license check.
  • Self-reportedTaken from this person’s own website. Nobody independent confirmed it. Where an official register exists we re-check these, and where one does not, we say that instead.
  • Source linkedChecked against the source linked, which is not a state register.

Nobody paid to be listed here, and nobody can. Listings are not for sale, and no professional on this page has paid us anything to appear on it or to appear higher on it. If we are ever paid in connection with anyone listed here, it will say so on this page, next to that listing. This page was re-checked on 23 August 2026 against the Disciplinary Board’s own attorney register: ten of the eleven listings are now confirmed there by attorney ID, admission date and status. One could not be matched and says so on its own card. An earlier version of this page said nine listings rested on nothing but the professional’s own website. That was true when it was written and it is no longer true, and we would rather correct it in public than quietly.

Family law & divorce attorneys

Certified mediators

Pennsylvania does not license mediators. There is no state register and no court-connected roster we could reach, so nobody can be confirmed as a mediator by any official body in this state — not here, not anywhere. What we could check is whether each person holds an active Pennsylvania attorney license, and two of the three do. Treat the word “mediator” as a description of what they do, not as a credential anyone verified.

Bucks County
Susan E. Murray, Esq.
Alpha Center for Divorce Mediation · Delaware County (Media)
Active PA attorney license (Attorney ID 45776), admitted 5/12/1986; no disciplinary history. Pennsylvania does not license mediators, so the attorney license is what we could verify.

Debbie Y. Schneider, Esq.
Alpha Center for Divorce Mediation · Bucks County (Doylestown)
Active PA attorney license (Attorney ID 49113), admitted 6/3/1987; no disciplinary history. The register names Alpha Center for Divorce Mediation as the employer. Pennsylvania does not license mediators, so the attorney license is what we could verify.

Michael E. Hughes, Esq.
Alpha Center for Divorce Mediation · Bucks County (Doylestown)
We could not confirm this listing against the Disciplinary Board register. No record matching this name and practice was found. That is not a finding against him — a middle initial, a former name or a solo registration will all defeat a search — and we have asked for an attorney ID so we can check it properly. Until then it is unconfirmed, and we would rather say so.
Not confirmed
Self-reportedChecked 23 Aug 2026Taken from the practice’s own team page. We searched the Disciplinary Board register and found no matching record.

Certified Divorce Financial Analysts (CDFAs)

Pulled from the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts’ own public directory of credentialed CDFA professionals.

Delaware County
Michael Maroto
Maroto Law Group, PC · Delaware County (Media)
Active PA attorney license (Attorney ID 73612), confirmed against the Disciplinary Board register. The CDFA credential itself is issued by a private body, the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, and no Pennsylvania register covers it — so the credential is checked against its issuer and the law license against the state.

Not included yet. Attorneys: PA Bar Association ‘Find a Lawyer’ and PA Disciplinary Board ‘Look Up an Attorney’ are JS-driven SPAs unreachable by direct fetch; six of seven attorneys were sourced from their firms’ own bio pages rather than confirmed ‘Active’ status on the official lookup (one, Bliwas, was confirmed directly on a Disciplinary Board record page).

Not included yet. Mediators: PA Council of Mediators and Mediation Council of Western PA directories are JS-rendered and returned no listings; county Court of Common Pleas approved-mediator rosters could not be located. The three mediators listed come from one firm’s team page (Bucks County) rather than an official roster.

Not included yet. CDFAs: Only one PA CDFA profile could be located on institutedfa.com; the CDFA.net PA state list page errored on every fetch attempt and no additional profiles could be discovered before search quota ran out.

Not included yet. Therapists: PA’s official license-verification tool (PALS, pals.pa.gov) is JS-driven and unreachable by direct fetch; no therapist names or Psychology Today profiles were identified to cross-check before search quota ran out. Zero therapists verified.

What these professionals typically cost in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania falls in the Northeast region on The Cusp’s cost model — illustrative, member-reported ranges, not an official fee survey or a quote.

ItemReported range
Attorney, uncontested$1,500–$4,500
Attorney, contested$8,000–$35,000+
Mediator, full case$150–$450/hr

See the main directory page for the full regional cost breakdown across all four professional types.

Child & adolescent therapists

Nothing here yet, and we would rather show you an empty section than an unverified one. The reason is specific: Pennsylvania’s license verification service works fine, but it puts its public search behind a bot check, and we do not try to get around those. So we have no way to confirm a Pennsylvania therapist against the state board, and we are not going to list one on somebody’s own say-so. There are plenty of qualified child therapists in Pennsylvania; we just cannot verify them the way this site verifies everything else.

Pennsylvania’s PALS license verification refused every automated request, and the Commonwealth sells its licensee list rather than publishing it. We are working on it; in the meantime you can search PALS yourself at pals.pa.gov.

Sending one person a straight answer about money is more useful than most advice. Nothing here asks for their real name, and nobody finds out they looked.

Before you pay anyone

Everybody on this page charges for their time. If money is the constraint — and for most people reading this it is — these two come first, and we earn nothing from either.

What this means. This is when the sources on this page were last read against their originals — statutes, court rules, official schedules — taken from the dates recorded against the individual citations on this page. It is not the date the page was last edited. Adding a link or fixing a typo does not move it; re-reading the statute does. Where we get something wrong we publish it at thecusp.app/corrections with the date, what changed, and how long the error was live.
