Not every check is the same check, and most directories hide that. Every listing below says which kind it was, and the date we did it — because a license check is a photograph, not a guarantee. Somebody confirmed in August can be suspended in September.

Nobody paid to be listed here, and nobody can. Listings are not for sale, and no professional on this page has paid us anything to appear on it or to appear higher on it. A small number were not, and rather than quietly presenting those as equivalent, they are marked and we are re-checking them.

Not included yet. Attorneys: No New Hampshire attorneys are listed, and this one isn’t a technical hitch — New Hampshire is one of the very few states with no free public attorney lookup at all. The Bar Association’s member directory sits behind a members-only login, and the Supreme Court will confirm whether a lawyer is licensed and in good standing only by telephone or written request. There is no public database to check a name against, so rather than list lawyers we couldn’t verify, we’ve left this empty. Not included yet. Mediators: Worth knowing what the credential actually is: New Hampshire licenses divorce mediators as "Certified Family Mediators" through a board within the state licensing office — a genuine state license, not a voluntary membership. All five above were checked in that official lookup and came back Active. The Judicial Branch also keeps a separate list of court-contracted mediators, but that document is closed to automated access and wasn’t used.
